Technology Commercialization AccelerationThe Technology Commercialization (TCA) Program is designed to improve the competitiveness of regional firms by:
Connecting regional companies to technological solutions:
- New products and processes
- Development and problem-solving services - by expert researchers in the field
Connecting researchers with parties that can commercialize their technology:
- Manufacturing firms with established clients and market reach
- Seasoned entrepreneurs that can form a successful startup
The TCA Process
Improving regional firms' competitiveness: An Infusion of Technology:
- Identify "RECEPTORS" - firms that can benefit from new technologies
- Understand the Receptors' business needs - processes, products, etc.
- Translate the Receptors' business needs to technological parameters
- Introduce Receptors to matching products, technologies and researchers that can solve their operational and product planning challenges
Commercializing Technologies: From Lab to Market:
- Introduce the project to local "SOURCES" of technology:
- Identify technologies with product potential from:
- University Researchers, Startups, etc.
- Corporate R&D Centers - Kodak, Xerox, etc.
- Academic Technology Centers - UR, RIT, Cornell, etc.
- Assist in commercializing the technologies:
- Identify regional firms with resources to "productize" the technology
- Build a business around the technology, but allow the researcher to maintain his position at his current research center
- Assist entrepreneurs in forming a startup that will commercialize the technology
Connecting "SOURCES" and "RECEPTORS"
